The perfect trip for the beginner Inflatable Kayak (IK) paddler and rafter, young kids, are those folks who just want a fun easy time on some mild whitewater. This is one of our intro trips with easy rapids and great swimming opportunities. This is a 3-5 mile trip depending on water levels and can be done in guided rafts or inflatable kayaks. We try to fit the boat size to water levels.
The Cheat Narrows is a great summer time trip because of all the swimming that can be done. Beautiful clear clean water make this a great trip for all ages and abilities. This is usually a half day trip lasting about 5 hrs from start to finish but can change due to water levels. We meet in Friendsville MD, sign in at our riverside headquarters, after that we have a short bus ride to the Cheat river, then we raft and swim and drive back.
There are several class 2 rapids with 3 class 3 rapids depending on water levels. When the water is up to just rafting levels there may be an easy, fun , exciting class 4. In the early spring this trip is mostly waves and pools.
